Tattoo Aftercare
Tattoo aftercare is
very important in order to keep the tattoo in good shape for many years.
Fresh tattoo, when left open in air are a very good breeding ground for air
born bacteria and fungus infections. These infections can affect the shape
and color of the tattoo if not protected carefully and this is the reason of
many tattoo artists to use a bandage on the tattoo to keep germs away until
the wound has completely healed.
Why Use Bandage?
Bandage is not
important but is essential after few hours of getting a new tattoo for many
good reasons. If not properly used, lack of bandage can cause your beautiful
new tattoo to look like it has been bombarded and of different color and
shape due to the attack of air born infections. While tattoo artists take
proper care to ensure that no infection is produced during tattooing but the
responsibility to take proper aftercare lies on the shoulder of the tattoo
holder.
Most tattoo artist
cover up the fresh tattoo with a bandage and which must not be opened for
few hours from then. Many experts gave a warning to not open the bandage for
at least 4-6 hours to avoid any infection. The best course of action would
be to keep the bandage overnight to avoid any kind of air born bacterial
infection that can ruin the freshly gained tattoo.
Even if you are in a
rush to show your new tattoo to your friends, then you must ask the tattoo
artist to use a transparent tape that can protect the tattoo wound from
infections and can display the tattoo also. But a good bandage will be good
also to heal the wound much quicker than a transparent plastic tape.
Protection from Sun
Sun is very good for
getting those Vitamins but surely not good for tattoos. Constant exposure to
sun rays can cause sun burns and also causes the color of the tattoo to fade
off much sooner. Extreme heat form the sun rays can also cause the tattoo
shape to vary and proper care must be taken to ensure that the tattoo is
protected from extreme sun rays.
If your work involves
extreme exposure to sun rays then you must use sun block of at least 30SPF
to keep your tattoo in good shape and vibrant colors for many years. Various
sun creams are also good to keep the color of tattoo intact but few experts
believe that the colors of tattoo can be protected by wearing clothing that
protects the tattoo part completely and hence direct sunlight does not cause
much damage to the tattoo.
